Born Into Bondage: Swearing fealty to the Queen of Canada

It is no coincidence to me that most followers of the Lord Jesus Christ are law-abiding citizens.

We have a unique perspective when it comes to authority because we are able to acknowledge that government officials and others in positions of power were granted those positions by God Himself. To break man’s laws or disrespect the people God has appointed to maintain those laws is to also disrespect Him.

I have tried to keep this in mind while pursuing my latest path of personal development, which entails becoming more informed about the structure of the Canadian government, Canadian political processes including the election process and the actual rights and freedoms that Canada guarantees to each of its inhabitants, whether native to Canada or resident via immigration.

While researching and looking through the various immigration policies on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada Website, I came across the Oath of Citizenship, an oath which must be signed in writing by every person who wishes to become a new Canadian citizen.

This oath must be signed for every new citizen, including those who are disabled, have a speech impediment, or are under the age of 14, in which case their parents are required to sign for them.

The Oath of Citizenship reads as follows:

I swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors, and that I will faithfully observe the laws of Canada and fulfill my duties as a Canadian citizen.

Please take notice that regardless of which official language a new citizen uses while taking this oath, they are required to pledge allegiance to the Queen of Canada. How many of you had no idea that Queen Elizabeth was still the Queen of Canada?

I had always assumed (making an ass out of myself) that Canada was a free and independent nation since I had never been told otherwise when receiving my state-sponsored education. I think it was either a massive oversight by the educational powers-that-be or an intentional omission of truth for me to have reached this stage in life with no knowledge whatsoever of the fact that Canada never really gained independence from Britain.

The United States at least has their Declaration of Independence to show, but we have nothing and are therefore classified as a Constitutional Monarchy.

If there is any doubt in your mind that the British throne still exerts influence over Canada, please pause with me for a moment of reflection. It certainly isn’t difficult to see that Queen Elizabeth’s face is plastered all over our currency. Take the penny for example. We call it Canadian money, but it has Queen Elizabeth’s picture on it. Well, it has a picture of a beaver on it too, but that’s beside the point.

When the Jewish leaders were trying to trap Jesus by having Him talk Himself into a corner, they asked Him if it was lawful to pay tribute (taxes) to Caesar or not. This event is described in three separate places in the bible, but I will use the account from the book of Matthew for illustrative purposes:

Matthew 22:15-22 – Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle Him in His talk. And they sent out unto Him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men (he treated all men the same, regardless of rank). Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Show me the money.” And they brought unto Him a penny. And He saith unto them “Whose is this image and superscription?” They say unto Him, Caesar’s. Then saith He unto them, “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.” When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left Him, and went their way.

What we can infer from this is that the image on our money says something about who owns the money. Caesar was the Emperor of Rome and his face was on the Roman penny, or denarius. Queen Elizabeth’s face is on our penny, and she is the Queen of Canada, as was illustrated earlier when I quoted the Oath of Citizenship.

A more profound point that Jesus made when speaking to the Pharisees, the lawmakers of Israel, was that the money may have belonged to Caesar because his face was on it, but tribute or worship belonged only to God because it was God who granted Caesar his position in the first place. God therefore appointed Queen Elizabeth as Queen of Canada, and like it or not, she retains that title to this day.

Knowing that Queen Elizabeth was still the head of state for Canada, that she had never relinquished that position, that she had a personal representative here in the form of our Governor General and that every new Canadian citizen was required to swear absolute fealty to her and her descendants led me to ask some fundamental questions about our supposed democracy and the illusion of freedom I had been living under.

If every new Canadian citizen is required to take the Oath of Citizenship, what about those people who were born in Canada? You may have already guessed the answer. You were born into bondage. You have already sworn allegiance to the Queen of Canada. You were never given a choice. How do I know this?

I know this is true because having been born and raised in Canada, I have never had a government official come knocking on my door, demanding that I sign a document within which I swear fealty to the Queen of Canada. I have never met another person born and raised here in Canada who has casually said to me “You know, the funniest thing happened to me the other day, I was sitting and watching TV at home when some government agents broke my door down and forced me to sign my life away to the Queen of Canada.”

I enjoy being a Canadian. I love this country and I love the freedoms I enjoy here, granted to me by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. However, I was not aware of and certainly never agreed to nor would agree to any arrangement where I swear allegiance to a British Monarch.

As Jesus was in Israel, I am perfectly willing to pay my taxes as required and defined by Canadian law. I am willing to be a law abiding citizen of this country in all respects and I believe that should be the case with all Canadians. However, as my master did long ago with Caesar, I refuse to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth. I refuse to swear fealty to the supposed Queen of Canada due to the fact that I never realized that I had the choice, and especially because my life already belongs to the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. I believe that new citizens of this country are required to sign this oath because they don’t know that they have the right to refuse.

The Lord tells us Himself that we, as His representatives here on earth, are required to follow the laws of man up until they conflict with His laws. I abide by the laws of this country and respect the wishes of our lawmakers because God gave them those positions. I believe that I am justified in saying that this is one of those times when the laws of man are clearly in opposition to His laws.

I feel it is my responsibility not only to make this information more widely available to the Canadian masses, but also to join the charge led by Charles Roach, a resident of Canada who has refused to swear the Oath of Citizenship, by publicly declaring in this post that I reject the Oath of Citizenship in its current form.

Charles Roach is a member of CCR (Citizens for a Canadian Republic), a non-profit organization that advocates the replacement of the monarchy with a head of state who would either be chosen through a general election, or elected by parliament. I would be pushing for the general election option because the election by parliament path leaves too much room for a new level of corruption that we certainly should avoid.

Another pioneer in this area is Ashok Charles, who swore the Oath of Citizenship in 1977, then subsequently publicly recanted the portion of the oath that made reference to the British monarch, her heirs and successors. He also submitted his recantation of that part of the oath in a notarized document to Citizenship and Immigration Canada. They acknowledged receipt of his letter and informed him that despite his public and written recantations, his Canadian citizenship status had not been affected.

If a public recantation of that portion of the Oath of Citizenship which swears fealty to the British monarch does not affect one’s status as a Canadian citizen, then I would heartily encourage everyone born and bred here to speedily make the same declaration as I have, especially those who recognize the supremacy of God and have already given their lives over to the Lord Jesus Christ.

The question to keep in mind is this: If a public recantation of that part of the Oath of Citizenship does not affect your Canadian citizenship status, then why is it included in the oath at all and why are normal Canadians not informed of the existence or implied acceptance of the oath?

People don’t tell you what they don’t want you to know. I have to assume therefore that there is some reason why the government does very little to advertise the fact that this oath exists. There must be a reason why it is not taught in schools. Perhaps it is because it also states in the list of responsibilities of a Canadian citizen that they have a duty to stand up and speak out when they feel the government is impinging upon the very rights and freedoms which we are supposed to be able to trust them to uphold.

Perhaps if you are not yet convinced, you might like to investigate the political structure of Australia. If you were to look into how their government is organized, you would find that although Elizabeth Windsor (Queen Elizabeth) is Queen of Australia because it is part of the British Commonwealth, the Australians hold a practice of requiring a pledge of commitment to Australia, its people and its laws, not to the head of state.

I don’t give out my social insurance number unless I am required by law to do so. I am not required by law to swear fealty to the Queen of Canada and neither are you. I remain devoted to my country, to God and to the laws He has put in place. I never realized that I had been born into bondage in this democratically governed country of ours, but now my eyes have been opened and so have yours. Canada has never had a change of government or civil war such as our neighbours to the south have endured in times past. Perhaps a revolution of our own is swiftly approaching.

Do you think we should be required to swear the Oath of Citizenship and pledge allegiance to the Queen of Canada? Let me know your thoughts.

Turn our back on this Bully the Queen. All monarchies start with a violent brutal overthrow of a free people and maintain that through the worst offences of human nature. The old lady with the Crown is only a figurehead as lond as our feeble constitutional monarchy says so. With the insane act of parliament to bury our collective heads in the snow bank for the next two months we have passed the point of rational reason. Canadians have to stand up as a people and simply deny any rights that the queen and her illegitimate hiers force on us. Stand up and be free.
